Day 12 Cau Lo to Thiem Cam
We knew it was going to be a hot one, so we creamed up and set off early 7:15. The sun had only just risen and there wasn't a great deal of heat in it. We also went through some morning mist which felt extremely pleasant.
I'd been so fixated on checking over the bikes and cleaning them up, that I'd forgotten a very important detail of preparation - though I had altered our course for the day on our navigation app (Komoot) I had forgotten to download it to the GPS device (Wahoo). So we were operating on the old route, which was fine for the first 30 miles but after that it was significantly different. The other problem was we needed WIFI to enable the transfer to the device. As luck would have it we hit on a small cafe that had WIFI and we sat with a very pleasant lemon tea and did the business. By now it was extremely hot and sitting in the sun soon made one lose copious amounts of fluid.
Leaving early meant we forfeited any hope of a breakfast, though as we were leaving the young lass informed us that she had prepared some food for us. We felt awful refusing her kind offer but we'd set our minds on an early start. Consequently, we survived on a banana and a bun we managed to find by a roadside street stall.
Today we managed to ride by the shore which was pleasant but most of the time we passed by uncultivated land which wasn't so interesting. Oh this one is for the bike nerds, the new seat post and saddle were great,Jen enjoyed her comfy saddle and me mine, I was able to perform much better today. Which goes to prove that the length of your post really does make a difference to performance (Tu tut)!
Ps Jen was able to purchase some copy ibuprofen gel for her troublesome shoulder, all for 60p.
Jen likes looking at the route on a map from my previous excursions so one of the photos is of our route today.
Good to hear you are both sitting comfortably now :-)
