Day11 Cau Lo
Being a veggie in Vietnam is proving to be interesting and although restaurant staff are always happy to sort something out for us our diet is somewhat limited. Last night, bearing in mind we are in a seaside town where the fish restaurants are a plenty we ended up with a veg soup, boiled veg, fried rice and fried tofu. All very nice and probably our most expensive meal to date but we are not sure if we can handle more of the same.
We decided on a day off from cycling today and so spent our time watching and learning how the local fishermen work. We observed a group of 10 workers, both male and female haul in to the shore a huge net. They gathered, sorted and sold much of the catch there and then on the beach and and re set the net out into the sea again using a hand paddled coracle. The team work was very impressive, each member having certain jobs to do.
Pete decided to clean the bikes and was kindly provided with a hose by the hotel owner while I explored a bit more of the coast and walked up a small hill to get a view along the coast. I sat and watched several more coracles this time with small motors coming back in across the bay.
Tomorrow we leave early as the weather is hitting up and we have over 50 miles to ride!
Don't tell Jen but I also swapped our seat stem and saddles over as I couldn't raise my saddle sufficiently for the length of my legs- it works a treat! I don't feel like I'm riding a circus clown's bicycle.
